Facial Hair Removal – What You Need to Know

facial hair removal in St. Catharines

Do you struggle with unwanted hair on your chin, cheeks, upper lip, or even your eyebrows?

Good news: there are excellent options that can help you solve this problem including laser hair removal and electrolysis.

So are you ready to put your tweezers down for good? This is what you need to know…

Facial Hair Removal Options

In the past, typical remedies for removing unwanted hair included plucking, shaving, waxing, or chemical depilatories. But those methods are painful and messy, and all of them are only temporary.

If you’re looking for long-term facial hair removal, electrolysis is definitely worth considering. This treatment is especially practical for targeting small areas, like the upper lip. It’s popular and effective and Stephanie at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow is an expert electrologist; she has even been a Chairperson for the Federation of Canadian Electrolysis Association since 2009.

Laser hair removal is also a safe and effective option. Although laser hair removal is particularly excellent for larger areas like legs and underarms, it can be used to remove unwanted facial hair too. At Hair Today Gone Tomorrow, we use a state-of-the-art system that’s specially designed to remove unwanted hair quickly and reliably.

So how do these facial hair removal methods work?

Electrolysis

Electrology is the practice of electrical epilation to remove your unwanted hair permanently. The actual process of removing your hair is known as electrolysis. During electrolysis, Stephanie will slide a solid hair-thin metal probe into each of your hair follicles. It does not puncture your skin and it’s safe and reliable.

Once the metal probe is in place, electricity is delivered to the follicle via the probe, which results in localized damage to the area that produces your unwanted hair. The electric current that passes through the prope during the procedure works to destroy each individual hair root.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal treatments work by sending the laser’s light through the pigment in your hair. This light converts to heat, which in turn damages the hair follicle and hair bulb, so the hair doesn’t grow back.

Traditionally, laser hair removal worked best for people with fair skin and dark hair because the light from the laser didn’t get absorbed by dark pigments in the skin surrounding the hair follicle. But there’s great news for anyone with darker skin!

New devices have hit the market with longer wavelengths, which are completely effective for treating darker skin types! And we have the state of the art equipment right here at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow in St. Catharines! These types of lasers can reach the deepest hair follicles with lower light absorption in the surrounding skin, making it another great option for removing unwanted facial hair.

Remove your unwanted facial hair for good at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc.

We use the world’s most advanced treatments for effective removal of unwanted hair. So if you’re looking to be rid of pesky chin hairs, annoying upper lip hairs, excessive eyebrows, or anything in between, don’t hesitate to contact Stephanie.

Full Body Laser Hair Removal in St. Catharines

full body hair removal St. Catharines

Are you struggling with unwanted body hair? Are you in search of the best laser hair removal in St. Catharines?

If you have unwanted hair on any part of your body, then you’ll want to visit Stephanie at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc. for full body laser hair removal in St. Catharines.

Here’s why:

Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal significantly reduces hair growth and even after the first treatment you’ll experience a reduction in hair. Although some hairs could eventually grow back, they are often more delicate, lighter, and less noticeable than before.

To achieve that permanent hairless look you’ll need multiple sessions, but after each session, your hair will grow back lighter and thinner until it stops growing back altogether.

Laser Hair Removal is Safe

Treatment is safe and well-tolerated. Studies have not found any long-term health risks associated with the procedure. And with the state of the art equipment we have in St. Catharines, it’s perfect for all skin types including dark skin, and for women and men.

However, it’s always a good idea to ask your hair removal specialist to test a small patch of your skin before treating a larger area of your body to make sure your skin does not react to the procedure. Stephanie can tell you about the process when you book a consultation.

And the best way to make sure laser hair removal is safe is to use a fully-qualified practitioner in St. Catharines like Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc.

Laser Hair Removal is Permanent

The majority of people who are good candidates for the procedure and use laser hair removal report permanent hair loss after an average of only three to six sessions.

Laser hair removal treatment is designed to destroy the hair follicle, which leads to permanent results. If the hair follicle is only damaged but not destroyed, the hair will eventually regrow, which is why we recommend multiple sessions for full body laser hair removal in St. Catharines, as well as more localized treatments.

The amount of time it takes for your hair to grow back will depend on your unique hair growth cycle. But you can expect a reduction in hair growth from anywhere between 10-25% with each laser hair removal treatment.

Once hair growth occurs, you can opt for more laser removal treatments until permanent hair removal is achieved. Typically treatments are performed every 4-8 weeks.

And yes, we treat men too!

Stephanie at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc. Can Help

Stephanie Hoogasian is known and trusted in the St. Catharines community for the excellent, personal care that she gives all of her clients. Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?

is laser hair removal safe?

Are you tired of spending hours removing unwanted body hair? Are you looking for a safe but more permanent hair removal solution?

There’s a reason laser hair removal is so popular with both women and men! And unlike a few years ago, it’s even safe for all skin types from fair to dark skin!

Most importantly, it’s completely safe!

So if you’re considering laser hair removal here’s what you need to know:

Laser Hair Removal is Safe

Laser hair removal is safe for the majority of people who use it with minimal side-effects. There are zero long-term health risks associated with the treatment. Unlike a few years ago, new state of the art equipment works for all skin types.

Some people might experience minor side effects after the laser hair removal procedure, which is why Stephanie at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc. walks you through the process in detail. Of course, using a fully-qualified practitioner like Hair Today Gone Tomorrow is the best way to make sure your laser hair removal treatment is safe and effective.

Laser Hair Removal Myths

As we said, laser hair removal is safe! So let’s clear up some myths surrounding this procedure.

Laser Hair Removal Does NOT Cause Cancer

Have you heard that laser hair removal causes cancer? Fortunately, that myth is totally unfounded. The lasers used in the procedure are specially designed to pass through the skin cells, targeting only the hair follicles deep within your skin.

During the hair removal process, the lasers do produce a very tiny amount of radiation. However, this radiation is so small it’s completely harmless, and there is no proof that laser hair removal causes skin cancer.

Laser Hair Removal Does NOT Cause Infertility

Once again, there is no proof that laser hair removal is a cause of infertility. The lasers are designed only to penetrate the skin, and they do not reach or affect any other organs. Even in sensitive areas like your bikini, laser hair removal is safe to use.

Home Kits are NOT as Good as Seeing a Professional

There are at-home laser removal kits if you’re looking to remove unwanted hair without leaving your house. However, these home kits are not nearly as powerful as the medical devices used by qualified practitioners.

If you’re looking for real and lasting results and if you want to make sure you’re in safe hands, you’ll want to use a professional service like Hair Today Gone Tomorrow. Stephanie has all of the newest and best equipment and there is no comparison to the results she can help you get compared to what you might do at home.

Book Your Appointment Today

If you’re bothered by unwanted body and facial hair and you’re looking to save time and money, you’ll want to book a laser hair removal treatment with Hair Today Gone Tomorrow.

Our laser hair removal procedures are not only safe and effective, but they’re a convenient way to achieve a hairless look that lasts!

Are you looking for the best Laser Acne Treatment in St. Catharines?

laser acne treatment St. Catharines

A first hand story from one of my clients:

“As a teenager, I had a lot of acne, and it always bothered me. My parents always reassured me that I would grow out of it, but I’m nearing the end of my twenties and sadly to say my acne wasn’t clearing up at all.

I tried every skin cleansing product, topical product, and health attempts like drinking a lot of water and staying away from junk food. Of course, I always ended up using too much makeup to cover it up and that only made it worse. But no matter what I tried it seemed like nothing was working and the makeup would just look caked on by the end of the day.

It was really embarrassing and made it hard for me to pursue relationships with guys because I was scared of my crush seeing me without any makeup on at all.

Now I’m in my early 20s and luckily, one of my friends mentioned acne laster treatment.

The idea seemed weird. How would a laser treat my acne? But I thought it was worth a try.

I live in St. Catharines so after some research I came across Hair Today Gone Tomorrow etc.  and Stephanie. She is such a nice lady and I really felt comfortable talking to her about my skin problems. She told me about the laser she uses (Fotona) and how it works to reduce acne inflammation and get deep down below skin level to get rid of the root cause of the acne.

The laser penetrates the safely and can sense the optimal treatment depth and then it uses its heat to destroy the overactive sebaceous glands that were causing the acne. The laser treatment doesn’t just destroy the acne, but it actually accelerates the healing process and stimulates collagen remodelling.

You can really feel it working and my skin started to look better after even the first session. Now after going four times, my face looks clearer than ever! I can’t even remember a time my face looked this good, and I’m so thankful to Stephanie for helping me to solve this long and embarrassing problem.

And by the way, her prices are really reasonable too. (And less than what I was quoted at other places.)

If you’re looking for the best acne laser treatment in St. Catharines, I highly recommend speaking with Stephanie at Hair Today Gone Tomorrow etc.”

Permanent Hair Removal for Upper Lip, Chin, and Jaw in St. Catharines

Do you ever find some dark hairs around your upper lip, chin, or jaw line?

Many women notice these small hairs, especially in bright natural light, and they can be very embarrassing. There’s nothing worse than noticing a hair one day and wondering just how long it’s been there!

“How could I have missed seeing it there before!”

Most women have been there and can relate.

It’s totally normal for this to happen but it doesn’t mean that everyone is comfortable with it.

So what’s the best way to deal with these pesky, dark, unwanted hairs?

Electrolysis in St. Catharines is the answer to permanent hair removal.

My name is Stephanie Hoogasian and I’ve been helping women—and men too!—get rid of unwanted hair in St. Catharines since 2005. I dealt with unwanted hair myself so I totally understand how you feel!

Let me explain how electrolysis removes hair permanently:

What is Electrolysis and is it right for you?

Electrology is the practice of electrical epilation to permanently remove human hair. The actual process of removing the hair is referred to as electrolysis the practitioner slides a solid hair-thin metal probe into each hair follicle. Proper insertion does not puncture the skin.

Electricity is delivered to the follicle through the probe, which causes localized damage to the areas that generate hairs, either through the formation of caustic lye (galvanic method), overheating (thermolysis method), or both (blend method).

What to expect

I offer a complimentary consultation to discuss the area you’re concerned about. Before we start, I inspect the skin and clean it and then I prepare a disposable needle. With the new technology, treatments are much more tolerable and comfortable.

I apply soothing after creams and numbing cream for your convenience. My work space is inspected by the health board regularly and I use the highest grade disinfectants available.

After the treatment, you can expect a bit of redness that could last a few days, but most people find it disappears within an hour or two.

After several treatments you should see a reduction in hair growth, the amount and the number of treatments depends on the individual. You’ll be thrilled with the results!

I’d be happy to discuss the treatment with you so don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Pain Treatment in St. Catharines

Mandi Gould is a St. Catharines resident and a regular Hair Today Gone Tomorrow etc. client

I’ve been so impressed by Stephanie’s “pain machine” that I just had to write about it!

I’ve been seeing Stephanie and Hair Today Gone Tomorrow etc. in St. Catharines for a lot of services for a long time. Usually I see her for things like laser hair removal and acne treatment (both excellent) and she is definitely a woman who knows what she’s doing and really cares about people. She had told me about the pain machine a few times, but I only recently tried it and WOW.

I sit at a desk all day and I get a lot of tension in the upper part of my hips. It’s something I’ve struggled with for years. It comes and goes but when it’s bad, it’s really tight and tense. I stretch and try to be active, but sometimes it’s so awful, and it got really bad after a recent road trip. I go for a lot of massages and I’ve had acupuncture for it in the past, but it’s never totally gone away.

Stephanie suggested that I try the machine and I have never experienced anything so effective! It’s an interesting machine. It pulses into the muscles with a repeated pulse. It got really deep inside the muscle. She explained that the way it works is that it stimulates blood flow to the area which helps it to relax and heal. Whatever it does, it absolutely works. It released so much tension that it was quite uncomfortable for the next couple of hours while my body let go of all of the stress. My muscles felt very worked and I had a hot soak that evening to help it to heal. Since then (it’s been more than a week) it’s been better than I’ve ever felt!

If you’re looking for pain relief or pain treatment in St. Catharines then you have got to call Stephanie and try this thing. Seriously.

I wanted to learn more about the machine so Stephanie gave me some information about it.

The therapy is actually called Radial Pulsed Wave Therapy and often also known as “shock wave” therapy. It’s still relatively new but it’s proven to be one of the most effective treatments for a lot conditions. Some examples include:

  • Heel spurs
  • Shoulder tendinitis
  • Chronic inflammation
  • Bursitis
  • Shin splints
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Stress fractures
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Jumper’s knee
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Thumb base joint arthritis

If you’ve heard about kidney stones being broken up by shock waves, this is similar. Except that the version used for kidney stones is meant to be destructive to a specific point of contact; thus used to obliterate painful kidney stones. In the case of this machine, there’s definitely no “destruction”. There’s a sort of wand that sends a therapeutic and controlled sonic pulse. Stephanie uses it to focus shock waves to target specific pain points. The radial pulsed waves flow through the region, which results in a biological reaction within the cells of that tissue. This triggers the body to accelerate its natural healing response by increasing the blood flow to the area.

Oh and funnily enough, the same machine and therapy is actually used to get rid of cellulite! I’ve never tried that treatment but it makes sense. I can see that the way that it pulses through to treat the tissue would also help to break up and soothe fat deposits and get the blood to flow through the area. It’s pretty interesting.

It doesn’t take long, just about 5 minutes to a small area or more time if it’s a larger area so that the waves can be targeted to the whole region. Since Stephanie was treating my hips, we probably spent about 20 minutes to get everything covered. The treatment does trigger an inflammatory response, which is the body’s natural response to healing. That might mean some discomfort in the first 2-4 hours (I had this), but it’s part of the healing process and boy will you feel great afterward!

I highly recommend this for anyone who has pain. If you have any questions about it, Stephanie is so nice and helpful and will definitely discuss it with you to see if it’s right for your condition. You can contact her at
905-688-3111 or using the contact form. Best of luck with pulsing your pain away!

Permanent Hair Removal in St. Catharines

permanent hair removal St Catharines

Are you looking for a permanent hair removal solution in St. Catharines?

Unwanted facial and body hair is a common issue for both men and women of all skin types. Fortunately, laser hair treatments are a safe, effective, and convenient way to reduce unwanted hair permanently.

Laser hair removal is a particularly excellent option for larger areas, including legs and underarms. At Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc in St. Catharines, our innovative system is specially designed to remove unwanted hair quickly and reliably.

So, if you’re thinking about permanent hair removal in St Catharines, you should be thinking of Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc. Here’s how I can help:

State of the Art Equipment

Typically in the past, laser hair removal treatments only worked for people who had fair skin and dark hair because the laser’s light didn’t get absorbed by dark pigments in the skin surrounding the hair follicle. But now, new devices have hit the market with longer wavelengths that are perfect for darker skin too!

At Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc. we use state of the art equipment including the ZWave, EndyMed, and Fotona laser machines that will provide permanent hair removal solutions for ALL skin types. These new lasers come equipped with the ability to treat darker skin types since these lasers can reach the deepest hair follicles with lower light absorption by the surrounding skin.

For example, we use the Fotona Dynamis Nd: YAG laser on all skin types because it uses an exclusive method of laser delivery known as Avalanche FRAC3®. This method is scientifically proven, and it’s based on a technique where the absorption of the light from the laser in the hair follicle is increased with each consecutively delivered laser pulse. The Avalanche method also works to lessen discomfort and improve the treatment effectiveness on darker skin tones.

You’ll See Results Fast

To achieve permanent results, you’ll need several treatments since hair grows in cycles. But even after the first treatment, you can expect a reduction in hair growth from anywhere between 10% and 25% and this will continue after each subsequent treatment. Plus, even the hair that grows after treatment is usually lighter, finer, and less noticeable. Typically I perform laser hair removal treatments every 4-8 weeks.

You’ll Be in Professional Hands

Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Etc is an owner-operated business in St Catharines, which means you’ll be sure that you’re getting the right treatment, the best results, and the most affordable price!
